Latest news, no games for Apeldoorn!

The first European Games for Heart transplanted were organized in 1989 by HARTEN TWEE, the Dutch association for heart transplanted which was founded in 1984.

Because of the tremendous success of these first Games, French participants organized and hosted the Games in 1990 in Paris the English in 1991. The Dutch  organized the Games for the second time in The Netherlands in 1992.  In 1994 the Games were organized in Helsinki, where lung transplanted also participated for the first time. It was during these Games that the European Federation for Heart- and Lung transplanted was formed.

The Dutch foundation H2O, and the association HARTEN TWEE are pleased to report to the General Assembly excellent progress in the planning and organization of the 13th European Heart- and Lung Transplant Games in Apeldoorn from 23rd to 28th June 2010.

We have gained a great deal of experience by participating in all the European Games for organ transplanted and World Transplant Games. If we are granted the opportunity to organize the 13th Games we intend to form a special foundation for the Local Organizing Committee (LOC).

The Rules & Regulations of the General Assembly, the experience of the BENS    (Dutch sporting association for physically challenged sports people) and the collective experience of the Dutch participants will form the solid basis from which the Dutch LOC will operate.

This present website of the Dutch LOC is to inform the General Assembly and the participating countries how we want to organize the XIII European Heart- and Lung transplanted Games. In it we outline our plans for the organization, presentation and management of these Games.

We look forward to your greatly valued support and sincerely hope that the ‘Apeldoorn Games’ will also be effectively promoting organ donation in your country.
